
Following are some suggestions for providing closure to this resource.
• Revisit the activity in the first section that explored the question “What is art?” and review the students’ definitions. Ask the class if they still agree with their initial definition of art. If not, how would they revise it?
• Do you agree with the statement “Everything is art?" Why or why not? Organize a class debate around this topic.
• What roles
do the following people play in deciding why something is art:
an artist
a museum curator
an art historian
an art critic
an art viewer/audience
• Review all the images again, then ask students to select artworks
based on the following criteria:
Which artwork(s) do you like the most?
Which are the most interesting?
Which are the most challenging?
Discuss
how each of these questions led to different types of choices.
